I visited Chubby Cattle 3/22/2025, after having previously visiting January 2024 and several times prior. It seems in the last couple months, the restaurant has undergone renovations. Whereas previously the restaurant featured individual burners allowing for guests to each to have their own individual customized hotpot, and a conveyor belt which allowed guests to grab sushi as it went by, Chubby Cattle now features larger tables and a shared burner, in which the table of guests can cook their food in their choice of two broths. Having previously visited with individual burners and conveyor belt, and expecting the $40 2 hour hotpot experience I had before, I was not expecting the renovation and change in menu. The current menu is accurate; there are four sets to choose from (Basic, Silver, Gold, Diamond), and the entire table must order the same set and pick the two broths everybody will share. The allotted time has been decreased to 90 minutes, and our waitress told us that because it was peak hours (we went at 7pm on a Saturday) there was an additional charge if we went over. I cannot remember what the charge was, or what the additional time limit was, but in my opinion 90 minutes was enough. The wait staff also lets you know when you're getting close. I found the vegetable options to be more limited than they had been previously. The vegetable tray featured: two kinds of mushrooms, some tofu, cabbage and another type of leafy green, carrots, corn, noodles, and probably several other vegetables that I'm sure I'm missing. No bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, or lotus pods, which I believe were offered previously. I'm not sure if there is seasonality to the menu. It's still an experience for somebody who is vegetarian, however it should be noted that their meal would be the same price as everybody else at their table, and potentially cook in the same broth as everybody else as well. We got the Silver Wagyu Set, which includes seafood. On the seafood tray, there was shrimp, shucked oysters, abalone, crab legs, some kind of white fish, and scallops. I may be missing several items from this tray, similarly to the vegetable tray. As a beer drinker, I found the options to be limited, however they definitely had Corona and Blue Moon on the menu, which was fine for me. Overall, thought I was expecting the sushi conveyor belt and individual burners which are no longer there, it was enjoyable. Chubby Cattle is a fun place to come with your friends, especially if you're looking for a fun experience and wanting to pig down on some wagyu. I have heard that this place is BYOB, but I have no experience with that.

Update as of ayce A5 waygu opening! Delicious and well worth the price to try at least once. There are three levels or tiers that you can pay for with note selections of meat as you increase. I got the middle tier and that was more than enough for me. Keep in mind that since it's A5 waygu it's hard to eat alot because it's so fatty. Overall a good experience and not packed when I went! Service was decent and ambiance was typical of an ayce place w/o all the noise.

our server daniella was a great server and helped us through the whole menu. enjoyed shabu with very fresh meat selection. she made sure we were never left wanting and was very sweet. the bone marrow appetizer was probably my favorite of the experience. pro tip; don't worry/bother with noodles, veggies, rice. maximize stomach space and just eat the meat.

Definitely one of the best hotpot experience I've ever been too. I used to live in Philly and seen the sign for coming soon for so long. It still wasn't opened before I'd moved back to Boston. But every so often I would come back to visit Philly. They finally opened a few years of me coming back to visit. I was happy and was very excited to try this place out and was able to get a reservation before I had to travel back to Boston. The food, the soup, to the meats that melts in your mouth from every bites, everything was so delicious and flavorful. Everything I'd ordered was all tasty. The conveyor belt was very convenient. Although you can order according to your preference. I would definitely be coming back. This place would not disappoint and recommend giving them a try if you're in town and around the area. Reservation is a must or you won't be able to dine in.
